FAQ
1. What is an Eco Poly Jacket?
It is a degradable polythene mailing bag. The polythene has an additive added at the extrusion process which makes the film degradable. This additive reduces the molecular weight of the polythene and allows the bag to degrade over time. After the degradation process the polythene will turn into water, a small amount of carbon dioxide and biomass.
2. What is Oxo-biodegradable?
The process through which the Eco Poly Jackets degrade is called Oxo-biodegradation. The degradation of the bags involves a reaction of the polythene with Oxygen. The Oxygen combined with UV light and/or high temperatures creates a reaction which allows the polythene to degrade.
3. Are the Eco Poly Jackets compostable?
No
4. Are the Eco Poly Jackets biodegradable?
No
5. What makes the Eco Poly Jacket degrade?
Oxygen in the air combined with UV light and/or high temperatures
6. What is the shelf life of the bags?
18 months
7. How long do the Eco Poly Jackets take to degrade in landfill?
Anything from 8 to 18 months depending on the conditions
